With the overwhelming success of the ASUS Eee PC mini laptop, no company has yet to offer a competitive price against its tagged entry-level at $400. ASUS' mini laptop became very popular because of its affordability for the computing masses. It primarily features are low-cost- at $400, portability- at 7" and .92 kg, and pre-installed software for browsing, email, telephony and instant messaging, learning games and office productivity applications. As to date, the demand of ASUS Eee PC keeps rising around the globe.
Surprisingly, Norhtec a new comer in the mini laptop business based in Thailand plans to release it own version called the Gecko. The good news is, it will soon grace the competition by offering a low deal of mini laptop that costs under $300 each.
The Gecko laptop is powered by Linpus Linux Lite, which is similar to gOS, Linux distribution created by 'Good OS LLC'. Thus, all features available in the ASUS Eee PC are most likely present in it.
Sooner or later, the masses could avail the much awaited discount from Nortech or ASUS, or whoever that could give the best quality at very affordable price.
